Schoology and Veracross
Faculty use two separate systems that both involve grades, and it's a recurring point of confusion which one is "official." Short version:
- Veracross holds the official grades. Term/final grades and narrative comments are entered directly in Veracross — see Teacher Grades and Comments. This is what goes on the report card.
- The Schoology gradebook is your day-to-day gradebook — assignments, formative work, and ongoing feedback that students and parents can check throughout the term. See Gradebook.
- These two systems are not automatically synced. Entering a grade in the Schoology gradebook does not populate Veracross, and vice versa — they're separate tools you populate separately, for different purposes.
- Veracross is the authoritative roster. It does not automatically sync mid-year schedule changes into Schoology — see What do I do if a student is added or dropped from my class? for what to do when a student adds or drops.
For who to ask about which system, see Who Owns What.
